Image Exploits and How You Can Benefit.

I was checking out various videos on DefCon 15 and stuff, you never know what you will find in one of the speaker videos. Every once in a while you stumble upon some great information that may not be too widely known.

This may have been around for some while, I mean, this speech was made in 2007. But regardless it still should work fine on sites that have not yet protected themselves from it. So why think its out dated or not use it? No reason. Watch this video, it shows how you can expand on a extremely interesting tool. Basically, the executable image exploit.

So much could be done with images like these to record visitors across a network of sites that you don’t own. Maybe if you owned an stock photography site or something you could set it up so that members don’t see watermarks on images. Really I don’t know all the things you could do, but the possibilities are quite beneficial.

France and Asshats

I am back from 9 days in Paris, France with 4 other seniors who graduated along with me. Its a pretty interesting country.

Anyways back to the good old Web Development Business and stuff…

About the problem I mentioned in my last post that I had on facebook, here is basically what it is.

Some asshat on facebook copied my ad word for word and the picture. Well I reported his ad to facebook and I was like: “this asshat is plagiarizing my ad“.

Well it worked, they got rid of his ad, but the stupid people working for facebook got rid of my ad as well. Ah well, it was an old campaign that I had finished anyway. I just don’t like people leeching off my work.

So anyway, after getting back from France last night, I see the same guys new ad up on facebook. So this is what I figure… if I can’t make money off of it, and some other guy is, why doesn’t everyone make money off of it. So i am pretty close to posting up the entire ad + everything, and let everyone enjoy! Which will in turn, ruins this guys undeserving profit from my work.

So, expect that post on how I made made my first revenue online, quite soon.

Thats about it.

Also about the Free Script Saturday. I have posted 3 right now, and I sure want to post more, but ideas fail me when im busy, so post up a comment or something and give me some ideas on what I could develop. Im not interested in making something complex, just the basics so that people who use it can develop, and add on to the script, whatever it may be.

Whats Going On With The Web Dev King.

I’m sure that the masses of subscribers to my blog are wondering where the hell I am. Well let me tell you what all is going on which will in fact, explain why I have not posted for 2 weeks.

The King has temporarily replaced his crown for a lesser… cap

1. I have graduated from high school. When you mix a 19 year old, prom, graduation, and other stupid random traditions, you get 0 time for other things. Here are some random facts about me + high school.

• I probably graduated in the bottom half of my class gpa wise, even though with my ACT score I had the second highest in the class, am I an underachiever? or just good at taking tests.
• My class is a bunch of lazy keeblers. For our senior prank we didn’t feel like rolling any houses, so we bought a 24 pack of toilet paper and just set the entire pack on the front door of our principles house and included a note which said: “Enjoy the Free Toilet Paper.”
• I hurt my arm while trying to roll(?) a bowling ball backwards (the wrong way) at a stupid bowling party.
• I decided that the masquerade themed prom my old(w00t) high school hosted, just wasn’t cool enough for me, so I didn’t wear a mask and defied the rules, neither did my date.

2. I had several problems with getting paid by my affiliate network… but never the less, Friday the 16th of May I received my first payment/paycheck whatever you call it. Going on cue with the people in this industry that I respect, I won’t brag or post about how much I made. Here are three facts about how much I received:

   It is more than $1

   It is less than $10,000

   It is not $6203.65

3. In 3 hours, I depart on a senior trip/adventure to Paris, France. When I return, I will feel motivated enough to do several more things, as I just recently was unmotivated by what I saw on facebook. Anyways, so long internet, facebook, mIRC, random things not in France… hello wine, Normandy, random things in France…

Free Script Saturday: Content Transformer Script

Like I promised in my earlier post announcing the new, Free Script Saturdays here is a free php script, on a saturday.

Today, I give you: The Content Transformer Script.

Here is a rundown of what it does:

1. You insert a bunch of content/html code/whatever and hit submit
2. The Content Transformer will go through the content, any words that are greater than 4 letters, will be run through Thesaurus.com, and the closest synonym will be grabbed, and your word will be replaced with its synonym.
3. If it doesn’t find a synonym, it probably means you misspelled the word or are using some sort of slang, so it leaves it alone
4. Finally, it outputs the content onto either the screen, or a .txt file with your new and transformed content.

Of course, I wouldn’t recommend using this script for any actual final content, because things can be changed into ineligible meanings. Be sure to look over your post. Once again this script is only so that you can see the process of scraping websites and editing your own information. Hack away at this script.

Here is an idea: Try to edit around the script so that for each word it finds, you get a little selection pop up or something and you choose which synonym out of the many possibilities would best fit the meaning.

Spamming Guestbooks Gives You Ranks

A good way to find out what techniques are working well to rank in the search engines, is by checking the “grand arena” of search engine ranking. Which is Viagra, on Google. If there is any technique that exists to get good rankings on Google, you will probably find it being used for a term like Viagra, or Cheap Viagra, Viagra is one of the most profitable rankings to earn on Google, so if you have a good technique, thats where most people would use it first.

Anyway, I was making my rounds of checking out how the sites where ranked etc, when I searched for Cheap Viagra the second term caught my eye quickly, because of its complete and utter, ugliness. Some comment on a post at a blogger account was ranked second, obviously something was fishy.

Spamming up.

When I checked it for links, I saw this: Results 1 - 10 of about 960 … tons of spamming on guest books that did not require captchas. Do you think he did it by hand? I highly doubt it.

It might take me about a 2 minutes each to create a spammer for each of these guestbooks. And I’m sure some guesbooks overlap and use the same template, so its just a question of . From there its history…

What am I saying through this? 1 thing, learn to code, it can be quite beneficial, even if you don’t spam a ton of guestbooks to rank for a term such as cheap viagra. You could still use it for other terms, or spam just about anything on the nets.

Spamming is wrong you say, well this is what I say, read this post by Slightly Shady Seo, titled Why Whitehats need to know Blackhat SEO that should explain a lot.

So, to wrap up, I may give a very basic guestbook spammer on an upcoming Free Script Saturday for you to look at, analyze how it works, and scale it so you too, can rank for Cheap Viagra

Announcing: Free Script Saturday

I’ve decided to add a “feature” to my blog, it is going to be called, Free Script Saturdays, now there are many reasons why I am going to be adding this feature and what gave me the idea. Including these:

As you all know there is a certain internet marketer that has a feature called Free Shirt Fridays, but really, instead of being of any benefit to anyone, such as giving shirts away, he just posts a picture of himself in a shirt that he got for free.

So this gave me the idea, of instead of posting a picture of myself in all my divine free shirt glory every Friday, I will give you something that would actually benefit the readers of Web Dev King. Because, Developing on the web pretty much requires scripting and coding, so its a good idea to learn it.

Every Saturday, I will upload a script, free and open source, that you may download, dice and splice as you wish. Edit it, modify it, do what you want. Through doing this, you learn more about the code in itself.

The scripts I upload are usually no where near perfect, or too clean, they will have interesting features to them though! I can tell you that much. Here are two of the previous scripts that I gave you, notice that they where posted on Saturdays.

List Creator and Combiner

Well, I just wanted to share a simple .php script I created a day or two ago. I made this for a client of mine who needed something quick.

Basically what this script does is: You insert 3 lists of keywords, and it combines them all.

Hint: You can use this to create two lists of keywords and one of tlds then pop the combined list into a domain checker see whats available!

Basically, this is what I am talking about:

So, you can insert some opening keywords/adjectives in the first box, then in the second box, put some proper nouns/nouns/objects, and then in the third box put a list of tld’s you are looking to register!

Hit combine and presto:

You get a pretty random integers/numbers.txt file, which inside has just generated every single combination of those three… check out the final result here: bc7c2.txt

Pretty cool huh? And guess whats even cooler, this script is really basic! So I am going to give you this script so that you can look over it and check it out. Check out what its doing, try to figure it out, its good to know some of those tidbits in PHP.

So right now, my client has just generated a list of over 36k domain names, and is scanning them all.

Race to 1k!

Alright, here is a recent contest I participated in this week. Check out the contest details that NickyCakes posted on his blog. Basically the rules where:

• First to earn 1k under NickyCakes referral link won an Xbox 360.

Well, let me tell you something. I have absolutely no experience in affiliate marketing, I never earned a penny before, until the day NickyCakes started the contest. I applied at Advaliant , got accepted, and started thinking of where I could make one thousand dollars…

On the 21st Nickycakes announced the winners, it was a close race between Amin and Matt . Amin was the finally crowned winner, with Matt close at his heals.

Then, out of the 100 or so contestants who participated, in 3rd place, surprisingly comes, Aaron (me). Yes! The person with absolutely no experience in Affiliate Marketing, got 3rd place out of about 100!

Nickycakes mentions me in his post announcing the winner.

“One dude (who ended up being 3rd place) was actually running his first affiliate campaign ever, is in high school, and is making close to $200 a day profit. If Cakes was making $200 a day on the intraweb in HS, he’d be rollin up to prom in the stretch escalade with spinners. “

Yes, thats me. I got the ball rolling with Cake’s contest. And am now earning more or less $150 a day. I may post up how I did it in a future post, but trust me, its much more challenging to figure out your own techniques. That way you can feel better about that cash.

Thanks for the contest Nickycakes. Maybe I will have to host a contest here on WebDevKing.com in the near future.
